Op-Ed: As though anyone cares — Climate effects on health getting much worse.

There are 8 billion people on this planet. They would like to live their lives without disasters. Clear enough?

You have to wonder a bit. After all these decades of criminal inaction about climate, who cares if human health is now being clearly severely affected? It’s just another ongoing catastrophe.

It’s business as usual in the dear old 21st $%^&#$%!!!! century. Governments, those enablers for crime we pay for, obviously don’t care. Useless billionaires don’t. Brainwashed religious fools don’t.

The worst offenders are actually the media. None of these rich obsolescent psychopaths are under any real pressure at all from media. They’re not being held to account for anything. They may rarely occasionally notice if one of the disposable “celebrities” of public life is a problem and pretend to do something about it.

…But if Little Donny has a tantrum, it’s a global crisis. Cretins everywhere must be told. The headlines spew it out. I suppose “Serial bankrupt narcissistic loser has a problem” doesn’t look too good as a headline. So, it gets turned into a crisis.

Anyone who’s spent two minutes in media, PR, or advertising can tell you what’s happening.

It’s not a conspiracy. It’s actual incompetence with just a hit of a massive dose of highly paid coverage. The media, like politicians, have no idea what their jobs are. They don’t even know why they’re supposed to do those jobs. …And they don’t.

This gratuitous fluff also uses up any space available for real news. How awful for you, you sycophantic clowns. Must be tough wading through all that money to get to the booze.

Meanwhile back on Earth – If millions of people are suffering, there’s a 50-50 chance it might get a few hundred words. Occasionally facts sneak in. In the interests of “balance”, they might give you a rebuttal, the other side of a story, and call it “coverage”.

This is one of the most obscene, egregious uses of the word “balance” possible.

Let’s do a little nitpicking here:

There is no “other side” to human misery.

If thousands of experts have told you for decades that there’s a problem, there is no “debate”.

If health systems around the world are falling to bits under massive increasing caseloads, it’s not a “theory”.

Starvation is not a guessing game.

Having no water isn’t an academic exercise.

Nobody gives a damn about rich morons, the Left, the Right, nutcase religions, or the Tooth Fairy.

Well, at least I got that written.

Feels rather good, actually.

…So, what’s to be done about it? 40 to 60 years after it should have happened, the US and China are talking about renewables. Both countries have had severe issues with fossil fuels, but at least now they’ve admitted it.

The bottom line for this disaster is that it’s official. The climate scenario is getting much worse, fast.

The people who know how to read and write say that the health effects are now serial killers. See the links above for a merry romp through some truly appalling statistics. Those statistics will look very familiar, but that’s one of the risks of knowing how to read and write.

While we’re on the subject – There are 8 billion people on this planet. They would like to live their lives without disasters. Clear enough?
